Crash kills Salem
man east of Keizer
Shortly after 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 13, deputies from the
Marion County Sheriff ’s Offi ce responded to a fatal motor ve-
hicle crash in the 6900 block of 55th Avenue Northeast. This
crash involved a single vehicle which was occupied only by the
driver, who was pronounced as deceased at the scene. Deputies
have identifi ed the driver as Alejandro Teran, a 23 year-old man
from Salem.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they located a Toyota
Camry off the roadway in a fi eld.
Based upon the initial investigation and witness statements,
deputies believe the driver was traveling northbound on 55th
Avenue and was unable to safely negotiate a curve, leaving the
roadway and rolling the vehicle. 55th Avenue was closed for
approximately 2.5 hours while the crash was being investigated.
Deputies have not determined if speed or alcohol contributed
to the crash.
The Sheriff ’s Offi ce was assisted during this response by
Marion County Fire District #1, Marion County Public Works
and the Marion County District Attorney’s Offi ce.

France School of Dance has been a fi xture of
the city for more than fi ve decades.
The troupe’s winter performance, which is also
a fundraiser to fi ght local hunger, is slated De-
cember 19 at North Salem High School.
