WHY THE KEIZERTIMES? After my daughter and
grandson moved out I knew I needed to re-enter the
outside work force. Having worked in direct sales and
as a bookkeeper for our own construction company for
years, I soon realized that entering the outside work
force was not going to be as easy as I had thought.
When I applied for the position of bookkeeper, I knew
this would be the perfect fi t for me and I’m so glad
they felt the same and hired me. I love the family feel
I get from working here.

WHY THE KEIZERTIMES? I have been fascinated
by the newspaper industry ever since I can remember.
I even used to wrestle my dad for the sports section
every morning as a youngster. After working for
a newspaper in Portland for a couple years, it's
a privilege to now be working for a great publication
near the place where I grew up.
MY PASSION: Chocolate, bling, summers at Detroit
Lake, traveling with my hubby and our friends, Anytime
spent with my grandsons, weekly dinners with family,
lazy Sundays watching football in the fall.

WHY THE KEIZERTIMES? Working for my
community paper combines two of the biggest
parts in my life; my passion for journalism and my
hometown. I like using my skills to invest back into
the community that raised me.
COMMUNITY NEWSPAPERS: While large
news outlets certainly have a place in the journalism
community, local newspapers are the cornerstone for
an informed society. If the community paper didn’t
fi nd the local news, there would be nothing for the
larger outlets to build off of.

romantic February day, many moons ago. Every day,
I’m blessed to use my abilities to help local businesses
promote their goods and services. I love what I do.
COMMUNITY NEWSPAPERS: Social media is
good for rumors — small town newspapers are great
for truth.
COMMUNITY NEWSPAPERS: Local newspapers
are unique and important because they often provide
pertinent information to the public that, most of the
time, you can't read anywhere else. For example, you
can read about the Blazers and Seahawks in numerous
publications. But usually, you can only read about things
like McNary athletics in the Keizertimes. Our staff is
passionate about providing the best possible coverage
for the town of Keizer.

OUR STORY

WHY THE KEIZERTIMES? Journalism has been in
the family blood since the 1930s. My father owned the
Keizer News in the 1940s. After a career spent in food
and beverage I fi nally joined the family business and it
has been the most rewarding career I could have had.
COMMUNITY NEWSPAPERS: The news
distributed on social media is just that: social. Local
community newspapers is where the public can put
their trust, especially with the Keizertimes. No other
source can get into the nooks and crannies of the Keizer
community like the local newspaper. We live here.
Decisions are made here. We like to say: “You think you
know, to be sure read the Keizertimes.”
MY PASSION: Government and politics. And The
Container Store — it’s my Mecca.
WHY THE KEIZERTIMES? Graphic design, my

a receptionist has been 21-plus years. The Keizertimes
has allowed me to learn a lot of new things about what
a community newspaper is about.
