Jeff Davis with the support of several Rotary Club of Keizer members installs exercise equip-
ment in Claggett Creek Park. The new addition should be ready to use later this month. A sev-
en-station gym at Country Glen Park is also in the works and should be completed this month.
Mark Caillier, Randy Miller, Herc Rentals and Salem Concrete, in addition to Keizer Rotary, have
provided fi nancial and other support to the projects.
Marion County Fair
returns next week
The Marion County Fair will kick off at 10
a.m. on Thursday, July 11 and continue until
Sunday, July 14.
There are many competitions for multiple age
groups, categories, and specifi cations. For those
interested in competing and would like to regis-
ter, visit marioncountyfair.net.
There will be many attractions to observe, in-
cluding dog shows, games, pirate parrot shows,
4-H- FFA Barns, fi rst responder exhibits and
much more.
Attendees will also be able to see classic
shows like the rodeo where visitors can observe
demonstrations like Mexican dancing horses.
Restless Heart and Jerrod Niemann will perform
on the main stage as well.
Discounted pre-sale carnival ride tickets are
currently on sale. Discounts prices range from
$5 to $30.
Special offers will be available for Honor Day,
Thursday, July 11, Awesome Day, Friday, July 12,
AG Day, Saturday, July 13, and Family Day, Sun-
day, July 14.
Regular admission prices range from $5 to $9.

SKSD honored for
Adult night at
communication efforts Gilbert House

Public nicating in effective ways with
Schools (SKPS) received na-
tional recognition for its work
in communications, public
relations and community en-
gagement from the National
School Public Relations Asso-
ciation (NSPRA).
Each year, NSPRA honors
the best work in school com-
munication through its annual
awards. The SKPS Community
Relations and Communica-
tions Department for SKPS was
awarded two Golden Achieve-
ment Awards for its 2018 bond
measure awareness campaign,
and “Every Day 24J” the dis-
trict’s awareness campaign to
reduce chronic absenteeism.
“We are so proud of the
work on these two programs
and we are honored to receive
national recognition for our
efforts,” said Director of Com-
munity Relations and Com-
munications Lillian Govus.
“Receiving Golden Achieve-
ment Awards refl ect the com-
mitment we have to commu-
our community and ensuring
we engage everyone in the
work we do on these important
initiatives.”
The Golden Achievement
Awards recognize exemplary
work in all aspects of school
public relations, communica-
tion, marketing and engage-
ment. According to NSPRA,
entries are judged individual-
ly in the areas of the strategic
planning process of research,
analysis and planning, commu-
nication and implementation,
and evaluation.
The Gilbert House in Sa-
lem will host a free event for
adults at the Gilbert House at
6:30 p.m. on Friday, July 26.
This is an event for adults
ages 21 and older. Attendees
will be able to enjoy indoor
and outdoor entertainment,
drinks and live music.
The cover charge is $5, and
drinks and food are available
for additional purchase. Visi-
tors must have a valid ID to
purchase alcohol.
