The Mc- Nary band had three students that performed at the state solo competition, and three groups that performed at the state ensemble competition. The Celtics small brass en- semble trio Nathaniel Eggert, Dante Olivo and Kyler Mc- Naught took third place and all played the trombone. In the solo competition, Kacey Whitfi eld won fi rst place (french horn) while Nicholas Weathers came in second (clarinet). Submitted RIGHT: The third place brass ensemble. Pop culture fans and comic book readers of all ages turned out in droves for Free Comic Book Day at Tony’s Kingdom of Comics on Saturday, May 4. In addition to free comics, attendees brought in donations for the Keizer Community Food Bank, and met some of their favorite characters and artists. Howald 2nd chance to see Celt One Acts McNary High School’s the- atre department will hold its sixth annual One Act Festival beginning at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14, Wednesday, May 15, and Thursday, May 16 at the McNary Ken Collins Theater. Throughout the evening attendees will have a chance to see 11 student written, de- signed, directed, and acted shows. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door.
