Soggy Day in the Park Register now for Monster Cookie ride set for April 20 a KRP The Salem Bicycle Club will stage its Monster Cookie Metric Century Bicycle Ride to kick-off the cycling season on Sunday, April 28. This will be the 43rd year of the ride, and has been ranked as the third best supported ride in Oregon by the Oregonian and OR Bike. The ride starts at State Capitol Mall Park in Salem and takes riders over the sce- nic back roads to the historic Champoeg State Park and back to Salem passing Willamette Mission State Park. There will be an optional 34 mile short route to the fi rst rest stop and back to the Capitol Mall. Pre-registration is $30 be- fore Monday, April 22 and an optional $7.50 lunch and an $18 t-shirt will be available. You can pre-register at salem- bicycleclub.org. Day-of-ride registration will be $40 and registration times are between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. All riders must wear a hel- met that meets CPSC require- ments and at the end of the race riders will be rewarded with a delicious monster cook- ie. The Clagget Creek Water- shed Council, a group ded- icated to promoting water quality and wildlife habitat in the Claggett Creek watershed, will host its Soggy Day in the Park 2.0 event starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 20 at the Keizer Rapids Park. The goal is to enjoy the day outdoors, regardless of the weather. This event is free to the community and will have activities planned for adults and kids including a bounce house/obstacle course, boat rides on the Willamette, na- ture trail hikes, and more. Free hot dogs from Adam’s Ribs Smokehouse will also be avail- able. The Keizer Police Depart- ment is asking Keizer residents with surveillance video cameras to help fi ght crime in the city. The new SCRAM (Sur- veillance Camera Registration And Mapping) program allows residents to register their home or business cameras with the department. In the event of a crime in the vicinity where the camera is place, offi cers might then contact owners and re- quest relevant footage. Registration includes the camera owner’s name, address, contact phone numbers, details regarding when the camera is in operation and how long any footage is retained.
