An oozy, gooey recipe to help
you through Spring Break
Slime is one of the timeless things people will always enjoy. Whether
you’re six or 40, it’s always a classic.
Still, be sure to ask for permission and help (from an adult) while
crafting to avoid and accidents or spills.
There are many ways to make your own slime; most recipes
need borax, glue and water, but to get a fl uffi er version that’s
more fun to handle, there’s a secret ingredient: shaving
cream.
Start with about 1 ounce of glue and add about 1/4-cup
of borax. Begin stirring it. You’ll feel the mixture change
as you stir. Slowly start adding in shaving cream and the
mixture will change again.
When you’re ready, dig in and start kneading the slime
until you get the texture you want.
There are a lot of diff erent recipes online, or you can just
play it by ear.
I added food dye to make it a pretty, pastel green.
You can add glitter, confetti, diff erent colors of food dye,
anything you can think of to make your slime your own. There’s even
some ingredients that will make your slime glow in the dark.

• The fi rst spring fl owers are lilacs,
tulips, daff odils and lilies.
• There is more daylight in the
spring because the earth’s axis is
tilted closer to the sun.
• On the fi rst day of spring sunsets
and sunrises are about 12 hours
apart everywhere on earth.
• During spring, the North Pole
has six months of uninterrupted
sunlight. The South Pole has six
months of uninterrupted darkness.
• The fi rst day of spring in the
southern hemisphere is the
fi rst day of fall in the northern
hemisphere.
• Easter falls on the fi rst Sunday
after the fi rst full moon after the
spring equinox.
• An equinox is the moment
where the center of the sun is
directly above the equator. There
is one in spring and fall.
• Approximately 1,800 species of
birds migrate during the spring.
• Spring is a symbol of rebirth.
• A single tree can consume up
to 100 gallons of water out of the
ground in one day.
How did the tree

He decided to branch out
We know it’s going to be tempting to turn on the
TV or computer when you get bored during Spring
Break, but there are plenty of ways to have fun without
adding to your screen time. Here are some alternative
ideas:
1.Have a picnic. Make sandwiches and walk down
to one of Keizer’s parks. If you don’t want to go that
far, just head out to your yard.
2.Go to the library. The Keizer Community Library
will be open next week as will the Salem Public Library.
Go get lost in a good book. We highly recommend
Tuff Fluff : The Case of Duckie’s Missing Brain.
3.Have a dance party. Turn up the music and get
moving, or make your own music with buckets and
other things you can fi nd around the house.
4. Build a fort. Pull out some blankets and chairs or
have your mom or dad help you make one outside.
5. Make art. Grab some pencils, paper and crayons
and go sit in your front yard. Look around at what’s
there and imagine how you would make it better.
Now, draw it on the page.
