Register your surveillance cam with KPD
The Keizer Police Depart-
ment is asking Keizer residents
with surveillance video cam-
eras to help fi ght crime in the
city.
The new SCRAM (Sur-
veillance Camera Registration
And Mapping) program allows
residents to register their home
or business cameras with the
department. In the event of a
crime in the vicinity where
the camera is in place, offi cers
might then contact owners and
request relevant footage.
“Our program is complete-
ly voluntary and is reserved for
offi cial use by the Keizer Po-
lice Department,” said Dorothy
Diehl, KPD’s community out-
reach specialist.
Registration includes the
camera owner’s name, address,
contact phone numbers, details
regarding when the camera is
in operation and how long any
footage is retained. Registra-
tion can be completed at bit.
ly/kpdcam.
Once registered, offi cers
will contact owners directly to
request appropriate video sur-
veillance footage. Any footage
collected may be used as ev-
idence during any stage of a
criminal proceeding.
