Norman Beugli, 92, died
Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019, in
Keizer.
Norman was born May
20, 1926, in Molalla, Ore.,
and moved
to Salem in
1930.
He
started school
at Washing-
ton Elemen-
tary
(Old
East School)
in 1932. He
moved
to
Liberal and Yoder, Ore., in
1934, and returned to Salem
in 1936, where in lived until
building a home in Keizer in
1986.
He graduated from Salem
High School in 1944, served
in the Navy during World
War II, and attended Oregon
State University. He worked a
number of years for Elfstrom
& Eyre of Salem, installing
acoustical ceiling tiles. He

Robert Michael Branin
passed on Feb. 22, 2019, sur-
rounded by family and love.
He is survived by his com-
mon law wife Cathy; mother
Lillian Dye; stepfather Tom
Dye; son Michael K. Branin;
daughter Veronica Smit; step-
R. Branin
son Wes Jordan;
and eight sib-
lings.
He had a
huge heart and
fi lled it with
many
peo-
ple. He will be
deeply missed.
A memorial is planned
April 20 at Lakeside Village-
from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on
Turner Road in Salem. Ser-
vice begins at 10:30 a.m. with
a reception following.
THIS

1952, and she died in 1980.
He married Lorraine Daven-
port-Schjoll in 1981.
He enjoyed crossword
puzzles, golf, entering sweep-
stakes and traveling the world.
He belonged to the Elks
Lodge #2210 in Silverton,
and was a life member; and
the Carpenters Local #1065.
He also volunteered for the
Amer ican
Red Cross
for a num-
ber of years.
Survivors
include his
wife, Lor-
raine, son
Harvey and
N. Beugli
his wife Pat-
ti; son Rog-
er and his wife Jennifer of
Salem; stepson Steve Schjoll
and his wife Toni of Eugene;
four grandchildren, Tyler and
Nash Beugli, Heather Beugli
and Kristen McMurtry; and
two great grandsons, Charlie
and Finn McMurtry.
A celebration of Life was
held Saturday, March 2, 2019,
at Virgil T. Golden Funeral
Service in Salem.

pice.
Chemeketa picks
new president
The Chemeketa Commu-
nity College Board of Educa-
tion announced that Dr. Jes-
sica Howard will become the
school’s next president/CEO.
Dr. Howard will assume the
postion on July 8 following the
retirement of President Julie
Huckestein, who took on the
job in 2015.
Howard is currently the
South East Campus president
of Portland Community Col-
lege, and previously served as
the vice president of academic
affairs at San Antonio College
in San Antonio, Tx.
Howard earned a doctorate
of philosophy in performance
studies at New York University;
a master’s and bachelor of music
in music theory and bachelor’s
of arts in English from Rice
University in Houston; and an
associate of arts from San Anto-
nio College in San Antonio.

son said, “Her proven leadership
and personal dedication to stu-
dent success, access and inclu-
sion for all students, makes her
(Dr. Howard) a perfect match

Colored pencils at KAA
The Colored Pencil Society of America will present its 2019
show at the Keizer Art Association’s Enid Joy Mount Gallery
from Thursday, March 28 to Tuesday, April 30. The juried show is
staged by the society’s District Chapter 201.
An artists’ reception and awards ceremony will be held on Sat-
urday, March 30 from 2 to 4 p.m. Light refreshments will be avail-
able and a raffl e will be held.
The gallery is located in the Keizer Cultural Center, 980 Che-
mawa Road N.E
