Christmas tree lighting
The Keizer community gathered on Tuesday, Dec. 4,
to light the city’s Christmas tree at Walery Plaza on Riv-
er Road and Cherry Avenue.
Hundreds of kids and their families enjoyed hot cider
while waiting for Santa Claus to arrive courtesy of the
Keizer Fire District.
Five-year old Aurora Van Dyke and 13-year old Trin-
idy Lehnertz were chosen in a drawing to help Santa flip
the switch to turn on the tree’s hundreds of multi-col-
ored lights.

Band helped entertain the
hundreds of attendees.
The November Keizer Commu-
nity Dinner was held on Wednesday,
Nov. 28, St. Edward Catholic Church.
Students from The Oregon School
for the Deaf served up a turkey din-
ner and pumpkin pie. Members of
the Whiteaker Middle School leader-
ship team served as waiters.
More than 300 people attended
over the two hour event. The next
community dinner is scheduled for
Wednesday, Dec. 27.
