Thanksgiving morning. The
5K run/walk started at Lowe’s
Home Improvement at Keizer
Station.
Six hundred-forty three

not named at press time due
to technical problems.

involved in boat fi shing today.
Crowded conditions at boat
launches today have forced
many anglers to hire a guide.
Buoy 10 fi sheries for
example; according to ODFW
fi gures, over 10,000 lines in the
water on a given day, number
of boats launched can be
staggering. We checked at the
Hammond boat launch one
Saturday in August. By 10 a.m.
505 had launched. Savvy anglers
were riding bikes to get from
the dock to their boat trailers.
Go with a guide, park your
car, walk down the dock and
climb aboard. Your guide has all
the gear and bait. Catch a nice
salmon, he cleans and bags it for
the trip home.
We did our research. We
wanted to fi nd enough guides
to cover the different species we
like to fi sh for.
We talked to others that have
used guides, checked references,
and came up with a short list
of guides that are dependable,
honest, trustworthy and most
important, know how to catch
fi sh.
