Fiddle Association is host-
ing free basic fi ddle classes at
Willamette Lutheran Retire-
ment Community in north
Keizer.
The class is held the fi rst
Wednesday of every month
from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Learn basic old time fi d-
dle tunes with fi ddlers from
OOTFA.
Anyone of any age, of any
ability level, that has played
the violin at least a year
should fi t right in. Bring
your violin, bow and rosen in
good working order, maybe
a shoulder rest too, for com-
fort.Parents need to attend
with students under the age
of 8.

The Marion County Mas-
ter Gardeners are offering a
bee clinic Saturday, Oct. 6,
from 9 a.m. to noon.
The workshop will be held
at the Demonstration Garden
located in Salem at 3180
Center Street N.E
Carol Horn-
ing will dem-
onstrate how
to wash mites
from
bee
cocoons. A
slide
show
will show the
life of mason
bees. This work-
shop will also show
samples of housing for
rearing mason bees and will
provide recommendations for
establishing a pollinator gar-
den. Handouts will be provid-
ed. After the lecture there will
be a tour of the mason bee
houses in the Marion Garden.
A composting and vermi-
composting workshop is slat-
ed on Saturday, Oct. 20, from
1 to 3 p.m. It will also be held
at the demonstration garden.
Richard Clarkson will dis-
cuss and demonstrate the ben-
efi ts, structural systems, and
the process of composting.
