Titans win big on the road
West Salem (2-1) overcame
a slow start to defeat Grant 40-
22 Friday, Sept. 14 on the road.
The Titans relied on their
run game to stretch their lead
from 19-14 at halftime.
Quarterback
Simon
Thompson rushed for 117 yards
and a touchdown. Thompson
also passed for 215 yards, two
touchdowns and two intercep-
tions.
Jordan Whitaker fi nished
with 20 carries for 87 yards and
two touchdowns.
Tight end Micah Pugh
caught two passes for 95 yards
and a touchdown. Jamal Mc-
Murrin also caught a touch-
down pass. Anthony Gould fi n-
ished with four receptions for
75 yards.

South Salem (1-2) couldn’t
hold on to a narrow halftime
lead at home as McMinnville
scored 10 points in the third
quarter to take control.
The Saxons and Grizzlies
went back and forth in the fi rst
half as Treyden Harris caught a
13-yard touchdown pass from
Elijah Enomoto-Haole late in
the fi rst quarter. After McMin-
nville answered to tie the game,
Ryan Rickman broke free for a
24-yard touchdown run.
But the Grizzlies scored
17 unanswered points be-
fore Rickman added a 1-yard
touchdown run with 9:13 re-
maining. The Saxons couldn’t
complete the comeback.
Rickman fi nished with 74
yards on 15 carries. Enomo-
to-Haole completed 11 of 16
passes for 184 yards. Harris had
three receptions for 91 yards.
