successful, it might not mean
the horn goes away entirely,
but it could be replaced
with wayside horns directed
at oncoming traffi c in both
directions. Train crews could
also still sound horns in
emergency situations or for
safety reasons.
The most visible change
would
likely
be
the
installation of four-quadrant
gates. Four-quadrant gates
include an extra pair of gates
blocking the roadway. The
additional gates descend on
a delay to avoid trapping
vehicles and, once fully
deployed, prevent drivers
from attempting to go around
them. The current crossing is
a two-quadrant gate.
The deadline for applying
for the grant is Sept. 17.
October classes
set at Keizer Art
Association
Keizer Art Association has added two classes for artists in Oc-
tober. They will be held in the association’s classroom at the
Kezier Cultural Center.
An eight-week colored pencil class has been set for a fall term
(beginning Oct. 1), a winter term (beginning Jan. 7, 2019) and a
spring term (beginning April 1, 2019). The classes will be held 9
a.m. to noon on Mondays. Cost per term is $70.
An eight-week calligraphy class, taught by Penny White, has
also been set for a fall term (beginning Oct. 2), a winter term
(beginning Jan. 8, 2019) and a spring term (beginning April 2,
2019). The classes will be held each Tuesday from 1:30 to 3:30
p.m.

In addition, Ann Kullberg’s SOAR Colored Pencil Workshops
will present Blooming Roses on Drafting Film with instructor
Rhonda Dicksion taking place at the Keizer Heritage Center on
October 13-24. The workshop fee is $199, with a $50 deposit re-
quired to hold a spot. Dicksion will show students how to work ef-
fectively on drafting fi lm, a versatile and very forgiving surface that
allows artists to easily create bright, vibrant colors. Registration and
