Eugene 4, Volcanoes 1
Was it Eugene’s clutch
pitching or Salem-Keizer’s
lack of clutch hitting?
It depends on who’s on
which side, but the Volcanoes
outhit the Emeralds 10-6 in
this middle game of a road
series.
The Volcanoes took a brief
lead in the third inning when
a triple by Aaron Bond scored
Kyle McPherson, who had
singled. Then Eugene’s pitch-
ers scattered the rest of the
Volcanoes’ hits, and Emer-
ald hitters scored once in the
fourth, twice in the sixth, and
once in the seventh.
Keaton Winn, the fi rst of
four Salem-Keizer reliev-
ers, was the losing pitcher at
0-1. Jeffrey Passantino was the
winning pitcher in relief, and
Mitch Stophel had his fi rst
save.
