Tuesday, July 3
Volcanoes 5, Vancouver 4
A three-run fi rst inning
helped Salem-Keizer to a sec-
ond win in the last game of a
fi ve-game road series.
A one-out error that put
Kevin Rivera on fi rst base
started the rally. After another
out, David Villar hit his second
home run of the season for a
two-run Volcano lead. Wander
Franco followed with his fi rst
homer.
The Canadians scored a
run in the fi rst and one in the
third. In the Volcano fourth,
Chris Corbett singled, moved
to second base on a wild pitch,
went to third after Mikey Edie
and Nico Giarratano walked,
and scored on a sacrifi ce fl y by
Jose Layer.
Vancouver added a run
in the fi fth and one in the
eighth to tie the score. In the
ninth, Giarratano doubled and
scored on a single by Layer.
Matt Frisbee was the win-
ning pitcher in relief at 1-0.
Marcus Reyes took the loss
for an 0-1 record.

Hillsboro 5, Volcanoes 4
(10 innings)
The fi rst Volcanoes’ game
under the runner-on-second
rule for extra-inning games
evened the home series at 1-1.
Salem-Keizer took a 3-0
lead in the fi rst inning. Jose
Layer and Kyle McPherson
singled. Layer reached sec-
ond base after tagging on a
foul pop fl y scored on failed
pickoff try. David Villar hit his
third home run of the season.
After scoring once in the
third, the Hops crossed the
plate three times in the fi fth
on two doubles and a walk.
The Volcanoes tied the score
in the eighth. Diego Rinco-
nes singled, Chris Burks ran
for him, and Joey Bart walked,
moving Burks to second. Villar
singled Burks home.
In the Hops’ 10th, Ryan
Dobson started on second,
reached third on a single, and
scored on a force out. Wan-
der Franco started on second
in the bottom of the 10th, and
two of the three batters hit
hard line drives, but they were
caught.
Wesley Rodriguez was the
winning pitcher in relief at
3-0. Closer Jesus Tona had his
fi rst loss against no wins but
kept a spotless earned run av-
erage.
Friday, July 6
Hillsboro 6, Volcanoes 5
The Hops took the rubber
game by scoring three fi rst-
inning runs and staying ahead
the rest of the way.
Volcano starter Gregory
Santos had an uncharacteristi-
cally rough fi rst inning despite
retiring the fi rst two Hillsboro
hitters. Jose Caballero and
Andy Yerzy singled, and Fran-
cis Martinez doubled both of
them home. A single by Kes-
hawn Lynch scored Martinez.
Aaron Bond’s home run
with Ricardo Genoves on
base in the third inning was
Salem-Keizer’s offensive high-
light. The Volcanoes scored
twice again in the ninth, but
Hillsboro had scored a ninth-
inning run.

Volcanoes 12, Boise 5
Four home runs and two
shutout innings from closer
Jesus Tona helped Salem-
Keizer stop Boise’s winning
streak.
Although the Volcanoes led
3-0 after the fi rst inning, when
Wander Franco hit a two-run
homer, the Hawks came back
with a six-run second on a
triple by Matt Hearn, four
singles, a double steal, an error,

With two out in the sec-

Boise 7, Volcanoes 6
Another series loss went
