The Keizer Rapids Sand Sharks began its summer camp last week. The camp continues every
Tuesday and Thursday morning, except for July 4th week, through July 12.
Sand volleyball camp
runs through July 12
under way, new players are
welcome to drop in. Cost is
$50 and scholarships are avail-
able for families needing assis-
tance. New players and those
in grades four through eight
meet from 9 to 10 a.m. High
school-age and experienced
players meet from 10:15 to
11:30. Open play is available
for all campers from 11:30 to
noon.
Proceeds from the camp are
reinvested in the sand courts.
Organizer Hans Schneider
said the club recently pur-
chased new nets to the tune
of $700.
This year, the camp drew
about 40 players in the fi rst
week.

After retiring the fi rst six
hitters, Santos allowed two
runs in the top of the third
inning on a walk, error and
wild pitch.
He then allowed his fi rst
hit in the fourth and was
pulled with no outs in the
fi fth after giving up a two-
run homer.
Santos earned his fi rst win
on Thursday, June 21 at Boise.
He allowed three hits, no runs
and struck out fi ve batters
over fi ve innings.
Santos improved to 2-0
on Tuesday, June 27, allowing
three runs over six innings in
a 10-5 win over Eugene.
Through three starts, San-
tos has struck out 14 batters
