McNary’s Athletic Boost-
er Club received a $50,000
check from Skyline Ford on
Tuesday, June 5 to purchase a
new scoreboard at its turf fi eld.
The new 18-foot, 9-inch
tall and 25-foot wide score-
board features a 5-foot, 9-inch
tall and 15-foot, 11 inch wide
LED screen for live track re-
sults and sponsors.
The scoreboard can also
post shots on goal during soc-
cer games.
“It’s a dynamic scoreboard
in that it can work for track,
lacrosse, soccer, all of our user
groups inside and outside of
McNary can use this,” Mc-
Nary Athletic Director Scott
Gragg said.
“Obviously, football will
benefi t from this but many
more groups will benefi t as
well.”
Joe Egli, president of the
booster club, said the score-
board is scheduled to arrive in

Claggett thriving in first season
By DEREK WILEY
Of the Keizertimes
Claggett Creek Middle
School didn’t look like a
fi rst-year program as it dom-
inated Independence on
Saturday, June 2 at McNary
High School.
Scoring four goals in the
fi rst half and eight in the sec-
ond, the Panthers won 12-0
in the fi nal game of their fi rst
regular season.
“Something happens to
us. The fi rst half we go pretty
slow,” CCMS head coach
Jose Mosqueda said. “The
second half it’s like a whole
new team. We struggle with
a lot of teams in the fi rst half
and we come back in the
second half. I don’t know if
it’s a warm up time.”
Eighth grader Aron Mon-
toya, one of Claggett’s two
captains, scored the Panthers
fi rst goal in the opening
seconds. The other captain,
Jorge Ruiz, then put CCMS
up 2-0. Goals by Xavier
Grantham off a corner kick
and Sage Allen gave the Pan-
thers a 4-0 lead at intermis-
sion.
Ruiz then started the sec-
ond half with three straight
goals to give CCMS a com-
manding 7-0 advantage. A
header by Alejandro Alvarez-
Perez with an assist from
Angel Vargas made the score
8-0.
After a Ray Pacheco goal
stretched the lead to 9-0,
Adair Barocio scored the fi -
nal three goals.
Goalkeepers
Ramirez
(fi rst half) and Allen (second
half) combined for the shut-
out.
