McNary sophomore Logun
Anderson went into the Wil-
lamette Falls Invitational at
Pioneer Memorial Stadium in
Oregon City on Saturday just
wanting to break his brother
Austin’s mark in the javelin of
150 feet and 8 inches.
He did much more, launch-
ing the javelin 157-10, a nearly
13-foot personal record, to
place seventh in the event.
“I was really shocked when
I heard the 157,” Anderson said.
“I didn’t think that was possible
because I’d already PR’d way
too much.”
Anderson’s best throw last
season was 129-8.5. He hit 145
in the fi rst meet of this season.
His mark of 157-10 is the
second best throw in the Great-
er Valley Conference this sea-
son behind only Forest Grove
junior Dominic Funk’s 164-7.
McNary senior Victor Zavalal
is third at 157-7.
“He’s supportive,” Anderson
said of Zavalal. “He wants me
to do the best I can and I want
him to do the best he can.”
Paige Downer had the top
fi nish of any McNary athlete
at the invitational, placing third
in the pole vault at 9-06. Haley
Debban took seventh in the
pole vault, clearing 8-06.
Casey Toavs fi nished fourth
in the 300 hurdles in 42.77.
Jose Solorio, Lucas Garvey,
Brian Hernandez and Dyami
Rios placed fourth in the boys
4x100 relay in 45.24. Solorio,
Harvey, Hernandez and Gabriel
Martinez then took seventh
in the 4x400 relay in 3:40.77.
Garvey also fi nished seventh in
the 400 in 53.44.
Ella Repp fi nished fi fth
in the 3000 in 11:17.14 and
eighth in the 1500 in 5:08.89.
Kennedy Buss, Reyna Ter-
razas, Isabella Walker and Han-
nah Mallery took sixth in the
girls 4x400 relay in 4:29.06.
Buss also placed seventh in the
800 in 2:31.40. Caitlyn Kiefi uk
Yates fi nished eighth in the 100
hurdles in 17.73.
McNary hosted its fi rst
league home meet on Wednes-
day, April 11. Winners included:

McNary lineman to play in all-star football game
McNary senior Tim Kiser
has been selected to play in
the 2018 Les Schwab Bowl on
Saturday, June 16 at Hillsboro
Stadium.
The game, which kicks
off at 6 p.m., features the top
graduating high school seniors
from Oregon.
Tickets, which range from
$8 for general admission stu-
dent to $20 for reserved pre-
miere, can be purchased from

can also be purchased in the
game program and includes
two general admission tickets.
All proceeds go to the the
Oregon Athletic Coaches As-
sociation general scholarship
fund and all of Oregon’s 5A
and 6A schools. The OACA
represents over 3000 mem-
bers/coaches involving all
OSAA sanctioned sports.
Charitable work is done
through a partnership with
the Oregon Athletic Coaches
Association, Les Schwab Tires
and Prime Time Sports. The
OACA has been involved
with the all-star game since
it’s inception as the Oregon
Shrine Game in 1948.
Prior to the game, the play-
ers and coaches share a week
of activities that build lifelong
friendships.
