BAGE A8, KEIZERTIMES, DECEMBER 8, 2017 KFD brings Santa to town Sunday police scanner Child, 7, has run-in with car near school A child crossing outside of a crosswalk was struck by a slow-moving vehicle on Clear Lake Road N., near Forest Ridge Elementary School. About 3:40 p.m., Keizer Police Department received a report of a vehicle vs. pedes- trian collision in north Keizer. A 7-year-old student had attempted to cross Clear Lake Road heading north when she was struck by a vehicle mov- ing through a congested area. The child fell to the ground and received a bloody, possibly broken, nose. “This was a slow-speed, low-impact crash with no damage to the involved ve- hicle. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene, assisted with fi rst-aid until medics ar- rived, and fully cooperated with the investigation,” said Sgt. Jeff Goodman of KPD. The primary cause of the crash was the pedestrian not using a crosswalk. There is a crosswalk located at the inter- section of Clear Lake Road and Wheatland Road a short distance from where the child attempted to cross the street. School offi cials sent out an auto-dialer call alerting par- ents of the incident and of- fered counseling to students who requested it.
