Turkey Dash 5K raises $2,500
The Keizer Chamber of
Commerce raised $2,500 for
Darian’s Gift, a non-profi t that
gives moments of joy to fami-
lies in treatment for childhood
cancer, at the Turkey Dash 5K
run on Thursday, Nov. 23.
Nearly 750 runners and
walkers registered for the
event.
Evan Gonzalez, a Salem
14-year-old, won the race in
17 minutes and 11 seconds.
Ben Handrich, 30, Salem, fi n-
ished a close second in 17:19.
Another 14-year-old from
Salem, Andy Goemaere, took
third in the 18:20.
Tonya Lutz, 40, Salem, was
the top female fi nisher, placing
fourth overall in 18:24.
The next Keizer run is the
Jingle Dash on Saturday, Dec.
9 at 6 p.m.
The course starts at JC’s
Pizzeria, 4200 River Rd. N,
and goes down River Road
while spectators prepare for
the Keizer Holiday Lights Pa-
rade to begin.
Best costume awards will be
presented to those who wear
their best Santa suit, reindeer
horns or twinkling lights.
Monster Cookies, hot co-
coa and coffee will await fi n-
ishers.
Participant shirts and other
holiday swag is included in the
entry fee.
Registration is $27 to $37
for adults, depending on the
day of registration, and $17 to
$25 for youth 12-and-under.
Kids 4-and-under are $5.
