Sept. 9
Renowned violinist David
Klinkenberg will perform a
free concert at Keizer Rotary
Amphitheatre to celebrate the
total solar eclipse Monday, Aug.
21.
Klinkenberg will play from
9 to 10:30 a.m. during the ce-
lestial event.
He will also perform a tick-
eted show at the Keizer Rotary
Amphitheatre at 6:30 p.m. on
Sunday, Aug. 20. Tickets are
$15 and are available at Up-
town Music, 3827 River Road
N., and at the amphitheater.
A graduate of Oregon State
University, Klinkenberg has
deep family roots in Oregon.
His initial fooling around with
the fi ddle soon became seri-
ous violin lessons; he studied
with Susan Dvorak, the grand-
daughter of composer Antonin
Dvorak.
After Klinkenberg was
signed to his fi rst record deal,
he left college and headed to
Nashville. He made a record
and toured with bands such as
Six Pence None the Richer.
After touring the country he
returned to complete his po-
litical science degree at OSU.
After receiving his degree,
he worked on his second al-
bum and staged a successful
concert at Portland’s Memorial
Coliseum, which helped him
to team up with Jim Brickman,
the best selling pianist. He has
since played with other artists
such as Kristen Chenoweth,
Jon Secade, Orla Fallon of
Celtic Woman and others.
Klinkenberg will bring the
same high-energy show to
Keizer Rapids Park that he has
performed at Lincoln Center
in New York.
