PAGE A8, KEIZERTIMES, JANUARY 6, 2017 Quilt exhibit on display at city hall By DEREK WILEY Of the Keizertimes Thirty new quilts were hung on the walls of Keizer City Hall on Tuesday, Jan. 3. In its fourth year, Candy Robinson started the exhibit when she noticed art work was absent at city hall. “There’s a lot of quilted art out there and a lot of peo- ple aren’t aware of it,” Rob- inson said. “It was in part just so promote the craft.” Robinson was a commer- cial and industrial real estate appraiser at the time but has since changed careers and opened her own quilt shop, Discover Quilting, in Salem. One of her employees, Cindy Lee, made eight quilts for the latest exhibit. The 11 different artists featured are members and supporters of the Mid Valley Quilt Guild. There is no theme as Robinson just wants to pro- mote interest in the quilting arts and to expose viewers to both classic and modern quilting techniques. The exhibit is free and will be available to view during business hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., until the end of March. “We just wanted people to feel free to submit what- ever art they had,” Robinson said. “This is just let’s show the world some quilted art and see if we can get some more quilters and inspire some people. That’s what we like.” C t h A L 0 4 NU AN BROUGHT TO YOU BY A OREGON STATE FAIRGROUNDS (JACKMAN-LONG BUILDING) Friday, January 13 11am – 7pm Saturday, January 14 10 am – 7pm Sunday, January 15 10 am – 5pm B D FREE ADMISSION & PARKING E F A: Professional Dogs by Diane Plummer B: Puffin Antics by Pat Adams C: Delightful Seascapes by Denise Sherry D: Jelly Beans at the Beac h by Joyce Bolles E: Cats Rock by Jan Story.
