DECEMBER 2, 2016, KEIZERTIMES, PAGE A9 police scanner Online sale leads cops to thief An attempt to sell a $2,000 set of tires stolen from a Keizer store led to the arrest of one of the culprits Sunday, Nov. 27. Jesus Martinez, owner of Martinez Tires at 4210 River Road N., reported that four tires were stolen from his busi- ness Saturday, Nov. 26. The following day, a friend of Martinez spotted a set of tires he believed were the ones taken from the shop on the website w w w. o f - f e r u p n ow. com. The friend set up a time to purchase the S. Hannan tires Sunday evening. The seller agreed to meet the buyer in the Shopko parking lot on Lancaster Drive North- east. Plain clothes offi cers ar- rived at the site ahead of time and waited for the seller to ar- rive around 10 p.m. The tires were visible in the bed of a pick-up truck. The offi cers made contact with the seller, later identifi ed as Shawn Michael Hannan, 43, of Salem. Hannan told police he and a friend, who he did not identify, had stolen the tires the previous day. Hannan was taken to the Marion County Correction- al Facility and charged with one count of theft in the fi rst degree. His bail was set at $10,000. Two offi cers and a sergeant came in on their day off to as- sist with the arrest. block Chemawa Road N. • 6:30 p.m. - Theft from building on 5500 block McLeod Lane NE. Offi cer Martin Powell re- sponded to a business alarm at Pinnacle Physical Therapy and arrived three minutes later. As Powell walked up to the busi- ness, he en- countered a man riding a bike from the rear of the business. Officer C. Cook Eric Jeffer- son and Sgt. Dan Kelley soon joined Pow- ell in the investigation. Of- fi cers determined that a shed behind the business had been broken into and a fence that surrounds the shed had been damaged. The owner of the business arrived and told offi cers that a stereo system was missing from the shed. It was found under a bush a short distance away. The man riding the bike, Christopher Cook of Keizer, was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary, pos- session of burglar tools and criminal mischief.
