Junior Emma Garland, who has played
soccer in the past, is a welcome addition
to the girls team. She ran the 1500 and
3000 meters for the MHS track team last
season. Junior Alison Repp also returns for
the Lady Celts as well as sophomores Xena
Lane and Makayla Long.
“They are fun to watch because they
will push each other,” said Kyle Rose, who
is the new head coach of the program after
serving two years as an assistant. “They
are good friends and they hate seeing the
other one get ahead of the other.”
The 2016 district meet will be held at
Crystal Lake Park in Corvallis on Oct. 26.

— Kyle Rose, Head Coach
Rose said. “It’s fl at and fast is what we’ve
been told.”
Rose expects West Salem, led by
Ahmed Muhumed, who won the 6A state
championship last year, to again be at the
top of the class. But Rose also likes what
he’s seen from his team.
“There’s going to be some studs out
there but I think it’s going to be good
competition,” he said. “With the kids that
we’ve got, they work hard and I think we’re
going to surprise some people. These kids
work so hard and I love it. I’m excited to
see what we’re going to do this year.”
