Bruce Myers has led 12 different high
school volleyball teams to at least the
quarterfi nals of the state tournament by
taking one day at a time.
Now head coach at McNary, his
philosophy will be no different.
“I don't worry about the outcome
in November or October,” he said. “I'm
worried about what we do today. I'm the
old (former Oregon football coach) Chip
Kelly philosophy, 'win the day', because the
outcome later will take care of itself if we
take care of today.”
Myers believes the Lady Celts have the
talent to compete in the Greater Valley
Conference.
“We're going to be highly competitive
with everybody we play,” he said. “We
have pretty much all the pieces. Now let's
just put them together. We've got good

said. “She doesn't have a lot of volleyball
experience because she's a basketball player.
But she's an athlete. Wow. I'm glad she's here
from August to November. I appreciate
that.”
Two juniors that will be key to the Lady
Celts' success are middle blocker Valerie
Diede and setter Sam Van Voorhis.
“She's [Diede] going to be one of the
dominating players for us,” Myers said..

We've got good setting. Now let's put it all
