Barker said. “We’ve got a lot of good
guys and we’re really coming together as
a team. I think we can compete for the
league title and go from there.”
McNary head coach Jeff Auvinen said
Barker, who was selected to the Greater
Valley Conference First Team last season,
is the biggest recruit the football program
has had in at least 15 years.
“It was fast and furious in May,”
Auvinen said. “I’m not exaggerating. There
was a recruiter there [MHS] everyday.
He’s a great kid and very respectful. He’s
continued to work real hard in the weight
room. Last year he was a really good player
and this year he needs to be a really good
player for us with how many kids we lost.
I think he’s up for the challenge so it will
be interesting to see.”

fi rst place vote, nine for a second,
eight for third, etc. Coaches
were not allowed to vote for
their own team.
