North Salem Vikings
North Salem, which reached
last year’s playoffs and lost to
Sherwood, has a promising group
of skill players returning, but head
coach Jeff Flood is concerned about
the Vikings’ depth.
First-string players who graduated
in 2015 were Dylan Thompson and Sam
Saechow, offensive and defensive linemen;
Cordell Birkel, offensive lineman; Santana
Reyes, wide receiver and defensive back;
John Stott, fullback and defensive lineman;
Jared Campbell and Tyler Borders, outside
linebackers; and Jimmy Van, defensive back.
Expected to start this year are Hunter
Sullivan, quarterback; Alex Vasquez, running
back and defensive back; Gio Gonzalez,
running back; Junior Sandoval, running back
and safety; Alexis Valenzuela, fullback and
middle linebacker; Aaron Bobbitt, Joseph
Dixon, and Andre Beall, offensive
linemen; Quillie Bonner, offensive
lineman and linebacker; Luis
Quevedo, offensive and defensive
lineman; Caleb Thompson and
Isaiah O’Connell, wide receivers;
and Michael Bolen, outside
linebacker.
Flood is his own offensive coordinator.
The defensive coordinator is Troy Walker.
Other assistant coaches are Tony Davis,
offensive line; Brent Turner, running
backs; Jordan Augustadt, defensive line; Jon
MacInness, defensive backs; Bill O’Connell,
wide receivers; Jim Wagner, outside
linebackers; and David Richards, tight ends.
“How our offensive and defensive lines
develop as the season progresses,” Flood said,
“will go a long way in determining the success
of the team this year.”
