National Night Out approaching fast
Play on
In partnership with the National Association
of Town Watch, the Keizer Police Department
will be co-sponsoring the 33rd annual Nation-
al Night Out event citywide on Tuesday, Aug.
2, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Residents in neighborhoods in Keizer and
across the nation are asked to lock their doors,
turn on lights and spend the evening outside
with neighbors and police. Many neighbor-
hoods will host a variety of special events such
as block parties, cookouts, potlucks, dessert so-
cials and youth activities. Neighborhood Watch
block captains are encouraged to organize an
event as an opportunity to contact their par-
ticipants, meet new neighbors and update their
rosters. All other neighborhoods are also en-
couraged to participate.
Registration for National Night Out 2016
is available on the KPD website at www.keizer.
org/Police/. Registration is also available at
the Keizer Police Department, 930 Chemawa
Road N.E. Registration forms must be re-
ceived by 5 p.m. on Friday, July 29.
National Night Out is designed to: heighten
crime awareness; generate support and partici-
pation in local anti-crime efforts; strengthen
neighborhood spirit and police-community
relations; and send a message to criminals let-
ting them know neighborhoods are organized
and fi ghting back.
For more information, contact Lt. Andrew
Copeland at 503-856-3463 or email copelan-
da@keizer.org.
More than 34 million people in more than
15,000 communities throughout the country
will join forces to promote police-community
partnerships, crime, drug and violence preven-
tion, safety and neighborhood unity.

Road N.E.
Specially trained safety seat
technicians will be on hand
to inspect, educate and install
safety seats and will have re-
call information available. It
is recommended that children
who use the safety seats be
present at the clinic so proper
fi t can be established. Know
your child’s height and weight
if attending with them is not
possible.
The clinic is designed to
educate parents on the proper
installation and use of safety
seats. Sgt. Trevor Wenning said
attendees should be prepared
to learn, not just watch the
technician install the car seat.
Clinics are hosted on a fi rst
come, fi rst served basis and
each check takes between 30
and 45 minutes - multiple
seats require additional time.
Wenning suggested install-
ing your car seat to the best of
your ability before the event,
and bringing car seat instruc-
tions and the vehicle owner’s
manual.
