Events to mark 100th
birthday of KHC building
The Keizer Heritage Cen-
ter will celebrate the 100th
anniversary of the building it
calls home all year with spe-
cial events through Novem-
ber.
The building began life as
the second Keizer School and
stood at the corner of Riv-
er and Chemawa Roads in
downtown Keizer for more
than 80 years. The building
was rescued, restored and re-
located to its current location
on Chemawa Road next to
the Keizer Civic Center.
The
Keizer
Heritage
Foundation, which owns and
operates the building, will
have a large contingency in
the Iris Festival Parade in May.
In August the center will
host a Back to School Night
on Thursday, Aug. 18 from
5:30 to 7:30 p.m. There will
be historical displays, school-
themed activities. The eve-
ning will include a wine tast-
ing.
On Saturday, Nov. 12, it
will be a school reunion, open
to all those attended Keizer
School when it was held in
the old building.
The Keizer Heritage Cen-
ter is home to the Keizer
Heritage Museum, which
currently has a Star Wars dis-
play; the Keizer Art Associa-
tion and its Enid Joy Mount
Gallery and the Keizer Com-
munity Library.
