Ring in new year with style, laughs
Time is short for New
Year’s Eve plans, but here are
a few options for last-minute
gatherings to ring in the new
year and celebrate 2016 this
weekend.
• Town & Country Lanes,
3500 River Road N., is
hosting a New Year’s Eve party
starting at 9:30 p.m. Tickets are
$25 and include music, three
hours of moon-glow bowling,
a New Year’s countdown and
champagne or cider toast,
a nacho buffet and raffl e
drawings.
• Capitol City Theatre is
offering one all-ages show
and one adults-only show
New Year’s Eve. The all-ages
show kicks off at 7:30 p.m.
and should wrap up about 9
p.m., 210 Liberty St. SE, Suite
150. Tickets are $12 and $9
for ages 12 and younger. The
21-and-older show begins at
10:30 p.m. and ends with a
complimentary
champagne
toast at midnight. Tickets
are $20. Purchase tickets in
Sobriety Powwow at Portland’s
Oregon Convention Center,
777 NE Martin Luther King
Jr Boulevard. The dry event
features drum groups and
community dances and is
free to the public. 1 p.m. to
midnight.
• The festivities go on all
night long at Spirit Mountain
Casino. Activities include
bingo at 7:30 p.m., a wandering
magician from 7 to 11:30
p.m.; bucket drummer/dancers
at 9, 10 and 11 p.m.; juggler/
stiltwalker at 9:30, 10:30 and
11:30 p.m.; Joe Stoddard
Band at 9 p.m.; photo booth
from 9 to 11:30 p.m.; Rock &
Roll Cowboys at 9 p.m.; bead
tosses at 9:45, 10:45 and 11:45
p.m.; and confetti cannons
and balloon drop at midnight,

Keizer Homegrown The-
atre is now offering season
tickets.
The season passes are avail-
able now at www.keizer-
homegrowntheatre.org and
cost $40, a savings of $14
over door prices for the four
shows each year for which
the troupe charges admis-
sion. Season tickets can also
be purchased by calling 503-

The 2016 season is slated
to include a revival of last
season’s Always, Patsy Cline,
Time Stands Still, Drop Dead!,
Twelfth Night and The Guys.
Purchasers do not have
to select specifi c dates in ad-
vance, but can make date-spe-
cifi c reservations at the time
of each show using the season
pass number.
Twelfth Night is the com-
pany’s annual Shakespeare in
the Park production and will
be free to all in attendance.
The city of Keizer is so-
liciting applications for vol-
unteers to be considered to
serve on the following com-
mittees:
• Keizer Points of Interest
Committee (two vacancies).
The committee was estab-
lished to identify, authenti-
cate, and memorialize sites of
interest located in the Keizer
area. Sites to be identifi ed
may be of the historical, geo-
graphical, botanical, or un-
usual. The committee meets
on the third Tuesday of each
month at 5:30 p.m.
•
Parks
Advisory
Board (one vacancy). The
Parks Advisory Board reviews
and studies issues that involve
development and mainte-
nance of city parks and makes
recommendations to the city
council. The board meets on
the second Tuesday of each
month at 6 p.m.
• Youth liaison/page –
Opportunities are currently
available to youth for service
on various city committees.

The awards honor sustain-
able practices by both local
individuals and businesses and

recycler of the year; sustainable
business of the year; Earth-
WISE business of the year; the
Green Apple, given to a local
educator; green product/ser-
vice of the year and sustainable
winery/brewer of the year.

Pro wrestling at Lions Club
The Keizer Lions Club will host Mid-Valley Pro Wrestling’s
fi rst-ever event Sunday, Jan. 10.
Ringside seats are $15 and general admission is $10. Doors
open at 3:30 p.m. with a 4 p.m. bell time.
A 12-man over-the-top battle royal is planned with the last
two wrestlers standing competing for a $1,000 purse in the main
event.
