KFD rolls
out new
ambulance
Keizer fi refi ghters are extra
thankful this week because
the fi rst of three ambulances
will be put in service on
Thanksgiving Day.
Earlier this month voters
approved an equipment bond
for the fi re district which
secured funding for three new
ambulances, three fi re engines,
refurbishing the ladder truck
and other equipment. KFD
offi cials ordered the new
ambulance prior to the bond
approval, using operational
funds that will be repaid when
bonds are issued next year.
The fi rst ambulance to
be replaced is a 2008 Ford
that had more than 150,000
miles on it and was having
serious mechanical problems.
A second ambulance has been
ordered and is currently being
built. The fi re district will take
possession of the second unit
in April.
Keizer Fire District has
responded to more than 4,042
calls to date and in 2014 ran
4,132 calls.
