nent was the start of work pre-
paring Chemawa Road N.E.
for a repaving job slated for
next week.

The Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter Day Saints
is planning its second Day of
Service at Champoeg State
Park on Saturday, Sept. 12,
and the public is invited to
join hundreds of other vol-
unteers. Chores will include
spreading bark dust, remov-
ing ivy and blackberry vines
throughout the park.
Clean up work at the park
will begin at 9 a.m. and be
concluded by noon. A hot
dog barbecue will follow.
Volunteers are asked to
bring rakes, shovels and
wheelbarrows. Work gloves
are a must. The day will start
at the Oak Grove overfl ow
parking area where duties
and teams will be assigned.

mission, which works to
bring art into the commu-
nity, invite residents of all
ages to submit art work that

Food Bank will once again
be giving away school supply
packets this year.
Donations can be brought
to the food barrel cart in the
Fellowship Hall at Fort Knox
Presbyterian Church or to
Faith Lutheran Church before
11 a.m. on Thursdays.
Items needed: backpacks,
16- and 24-count Crayola
crayons, glue sticks and white
glue, Fiskars scissors, No. 2
pencils, pens, pink pearl eras-
ers, pencil cases, three-ring
notebooks, wide lined note-
book paper, tissues, eight-
count broad tip markers,
12-count colored pencils and
rulers with both standard and
metric measurements.
About 100 packets are giv-
en away each year. Any left-
over items will be given to a
Keizer elementary school.

be used for the City of Keiz-
er’s 2015 Holiday Greeting
card and the winning en-
trant will receive a $100 gift
card to Michael’s Crafts.
