nadians’ four, they drew six

The Volcanoes scored twice
in the fourth inning and twice
in the fi fth. In the fourth,
Richard Amion doubled, went
to third base on a single by
Chase Compton and scored as
Mark Nelson singled.
The fi fth-inning runs
scored on no hits. Steven Neff
walked, Christian Lichten-
thaler hit into a force out, and
Amion and Compton walked.
A wild pitch by reliever Bran-
don Hinkle scored Amion.

ning streak to three before
the third successive crowd of
3,000-plus.
Drew Leenhouts was the
starting and winning pitch-
er, going seven innings with
nine strikeouts. Jarret Leverett
pitched an inning of relief and
Eric Sim fi nished the game
with a save.
The Canadians scored fi rst,
on a fi rst-inning home run by
Lane Thomas. The Volcanoes
tied the score in the second as
Miguel Gomez, who had led
off with a double and gone
to third base on a caught line
drive by Mark Nelson, came
home as Julio Pena grounded
out.
In the bottom of the fourth,
Shilo McCall gave the Vol-
canoes their fi nal lead with a
home run over the left center
fi eld wall.
Salem-Keizer made a dou-
ble play in the fourth, with
third baseman Chase Comp-
ton catching a line drive and
throwing to John Riley at fi rst
to retire a baserunner.
John Wandling was Van-
couver’s starting and losing

The Volcanoes won the se-
ries three games to two but
stranded 16 baserunners in
the last game despite outhit-
ting the opposition for the
fi rst time this season.
Michael Connolly, Salem-
Keizer’s starting pitcher, was
dominant through fi ve in-
nings, striking out fi ve with
one hit and no walks, but fall-
ing apart in the sixth and tak-
ing the loss. The Canadians
scored four times in the sixth
on three hits, a walk and a hit
batsman.
The Volcanoes scored one
run each in the third, fi fth
and eighth. Their nine hits
in the game included one
double apiece by Richard
Amion, Chase Compton and
Fernando Pujadas.
Vancouver had no stel-
lar player, but Lane Thom-
as drove in three of the
runs. Joey Aquino was the
winning pitcher in relief and
Andrew Case got his fi rst
save.

Skyhawks lacrosse camp
Boys and girls ages 7 to 12
are welcome to sign up for the
Skyhawks Lacrosse Camp June
29 through July 2. Camp times
are 9 a.m. to noon. Cost is $109
per camper.
The sessions will be held at
Woodmansee Park, 4629 Sunny-

Celtic volleyball camp
The annual Celtic volleyball
camp is scheduled for Aug. 10
through 12.
Camp for beginner and in-
termediate players is 5:30 to 8
p.m. Cost is $40 and includes
a T-shirt. Camp for advanced
players is 8 to 11 a.m. and con-
tinues from 1 to 3 p.m. Cost is
$50 per camper and includes a
T-shirt.
Beginner and intermediate
instruction focuses on funda-
mentals such as sportsmanship
and teamwork, passing tech-
nique, defensive and offensive
skills, serving techniques, offen-
sive and defensive systems and
basic rules.
Advanced camp includes
instruction in overhand skills,
passing posture, blocking tech-
niques, serving strategies, of-
fensive and defensive systems,
multiplayer training and drills,
and tryout preparation.
Registration forms are avail-
able at the McNary main offi ce.
McNary soccer camp
The McNary High School
soccer program is offering
camps for girls and boys in all
grades this summer.
Kindergarten through sixth
grade camp is Aug. 3 through 6
from 6 to 7:15 p.m. Camp for
students in grades seven through
12 will be Aug. 10-13 from 6 to
7:30 p.m. Cost for all camps is
$50 and includes a T-shirt.
