Dutch Bros. raises
$20K for Verboort
On Wednesday, June 3, Dutch Bros. Keizer and the com-
munity banded together to raise $20,900 for Austin Verboort’s
family to help offset medical expenses.
“Austin is part of the Dutch Bros. family, we knew we
wanted to help,” said Dutch Bros. Keizer owner Jason East-
man. “When we’re able to partner with the community the
results are amazing.”
Verboort, 16, known by his community and many Dutch
Bros. Keizer employees as being a fun-loving kid, is currently
in fair condition after he was involved in a collision on May
22.
To help raise funds, Dutch Bros. Keizer donated proceeds
from all drinks sold, raffl ed off a year of free coffee and had
on-site donation buckets. All donations benefi tted Verboort
and his family.
“We are so grateful to everyone who came through the
stand and showed their support,” said Eastman.

What is Shiatsu?
Shiatsu (shee ot’ soo) is a
Japanese form of massage,
which uses acupressure and
stretching to tune the body by
balancing its fl ow of energy,
called qi (chee). Unobstructed
fl ow of this vital energy is
both the cause and effect of
good health. Shiatsu is based
in Chinese medical theory,
which says that the body has
an energetic structure in the form of pathways or channels. Along these channels
a person’s energy fl ows, carrying nourishment and vitality to maintain proper
functioning. Shiatsu can be done on the fl oor or a massage table. Receivers remain
clothed and no oils are used.
OSM Shiatsu Certifi cate Program
Oregon School of Massage offers both an Eastern Focus for initial licensure and an
advanced Shiatsu Certifi cate program, each unique in the Northwest. Most classes
are practical, hands-on bodywork. Shiatsu is learned and practiced much like a
martial art, ballet or piece of music. The form or ‘kata’, is like a musical score or
piece of choreography. The kata means both the sequence of the massage, and the
proper way of doing it. Done correctly, the kata generates a fl ow of qi within the
bodies of both the recipient and the practitioner.
