CODE, continued from Page A1 “Now it is split between police parking and graffiti, right-of-way vegetation and sidewalk issues and classic code enforcement,” Brown said. “The split is 35/15/50. The numbers, however, will ebb and flow as work demand changes, depending on what is going on at any given mo- ment. The administrative sup- port for all of these functions will still come from existing staff to some level and Shane will still be involved with the position as a resource.” Brown said it still hasn’t been determined if all aspects formerly handled by Casker will be picked up by Crosby or not. “We are seeing much more permit and land-use activity than in the past and that has to also be factored into the big picture,” Brown said. Sgt. Trevor Wenning with the Keizer Police Department said how much Crosby can help out the KPD will be at Brown’s discretion. “Currently our officers, as well as Shane Witham, are handling the work that we an- ticipate the new code enforce- ment person will be helping with,” Wenning said. “Our folks will continue to respond to complaints whereas this person will be actively look- ing and handling issues before they become complaints. We anticipate this new person will be working closely with our Community Response Unit as well as other units when an expert in community codes is needed. We are expecting a close working relationship with this person and will val- ue their expertise in the area of code/ordinance enforce- ment.” It had been anticipated the position would be filled sooner, but Brown said more interviewing ended up being needed. “It’s taken longer than I hoped,” Brown said. “I had hoped it would be filled in February.” Currently, Brown said code issues are driven by com- plaints. “We will be proactive now, but we still will not be driving up and down the street look- ing at signs and tree limbs,” Brown said. traffi c court NO LICENSE NO INSURANCE Mark Allen Napier, $260.
