Gustav’s sets opening date for Keizer Bargarten
opening could be even sooner.
“Gustav’s is applying for a
temporary CO (Certifi cate
of Occupancy) for Monday,”
Brown said. “They have some
minor issues to correct, but
they will be open probably by
the end of (this) week.”
Those interested in apply-
ing for a job at the new res-
taurant can contact general
manager Jordan Walters at jor-
dan.walters@gutenfoods.com.
An interview space has been
set up in a vacant offi ce space
between The Beaver Store and
Famous Footwear.
Offi cials with the Portland-
based Gustav’s signed a lease
last March with California-
based Donahue Schriber for
space on the corner of Ulali
Drive and Stadium Drive.

The question is being asked
with more and more regular-
ity: When will Gustav’s open
in Keizer Station?
Originally, the new Ger-
man restaurant by the Mc-
Donald’s and Men’s Wear-
house was going to open in
February. When asked for an
update in February, Kyle Mal-
lory with Koopman Ostbo
told the Keizertimes the target
was moved to mid-April.
Now, a more exact date
for the Gustav’s Bargarten has
been announced.
“The scheduled opening
is April 21,” Mallory said last
week. “As you know some-
times construction can hold
up projects, but right now it
looks to be April 21.”
Nate Brown, director of
Community Development for
Keizer, hinted last week the
restaurant.
The Keizer City Council
approved a liquor license re-
quest in February, forwarding
the request on to the Oregon
Liquor Control Commission,
which in turn granted ap-
proval.
Suzeanne Mager, owner
and president of Gustav’s, said
in February she was excited
about Bargarten, a new con-
cept for the company formed
by her and her dad back in
1992.
“We’re looking forward to
unveiling Bargarten, our mod-
ern German concept, in Keiz-
er Station,” Mager said. “With
a host of other exciting busi-
nesses, a baseball team nearby
and a growing Salem and
Keizer-area demographic, we
think this new concept will
give people something excit-
ing to enjoy time and again.”
Last May, Mager told the

Keizertimes about the new
concept being debuted in
Keizer.
“My vision is something
lighter, more everyday,” she
said at the time. “We will
still have schnitzels, sausages
and fondues. The concept is
a more modern, contempo-
rary German fare. We want to
do something lighter. This is
more social, more bar-centric,
like you’re going to a beer gar-
den in Germany and you can
see everyone.”

More than twenty years ago Deborah Inkelaar,
LTC, founded Accurate Tax Service with the
simple idea that she wasn’t doing taxes, she was
building relationships with her clients. In 2012
Robert A. Evans, E.A., LTC, who also started his
own accounting firm more than 20 years ago,
merged his practice with Deborah at Accurate Tax
Service, and now together they offer professional
and knowledgeable service specializing in
individual and business tax return preparation as
well as offering bookkeeping and payroll services.
January is the month when most people
think about taxes. This tax year more than usual
it will be important for taxpayers to be informed
as we deal with the reporting requirements
arising from the IRS’s implementation of the
Affordable Care Act (ACT, or Obamacare as
commonly known). All taxpayers will need to
fi le their tax returns in compliance with the ACT
requirements, vouching of their compliance or
calculating their credit or penalty. All businesses,
farms and rental owners will also need to be
aware of the new rules concerning expenses
and capitalization. We are here to review the
questions with you, complete the worksheets
and forms necessary to prepare your return in
compliance with the new laws.
“All clients are people, not numbers,” said
Inkelaar. “We appreciate and value the trust they
place in us and strive to do the best job possible for
them.” Accurate Tax Service is open year round~
Deborah and Robert are available to provide tax
support with these new regulations and all their
client’s life changes: a new job, moving, marriage,
births, divorce, and death.
The offi ce is located in Keizer’s Baker Square
at 146 Chemawa Road N. For an appointment
