Volunteers sought Church beginning in-depth Bible study
for city committees
The City of Keizer is currently looking for
volunteers to fi ll vacancies on several city com-
mittees.
Applications must be received by noon on
Wednesday, Jan. 7, to be considered at the Jan.
15 Volunteer Coordinating Committee meet-
ing.
The current openings include:
• Arts Commission – This Commission re-
views, evaluates, selects, maintains and docu-
ments all artwork, public art and public murals
within the city. The commission may advise the
city council and city manager on the manage-
ment, execution, installation, or placement of
the artwork, public art and public murals and
will recommend guidelines for adoption by the
city council for the selection and placement of
the artwork giving preference to Oregon art-
ists. The commission meets on the fourth Tues-
day of every month at 6 p.m. (one vacancy)
• Budget committee - Responsibilities in-
clude assisting the city council in the examina-
tion and analyzing of proposed budgets for the
city of Keizer. The budget committee meets in
May of each year to review the annual budget.

• Traffic Safety/Bikeways Pedestrian com-
mittee - This committee is responsible for re-
viewing traffi c safety issues in Keizer and mak-
ing recommendations to the city council for
improvements. Members also make recom-
mendations for future locations of bike lanes
in the city and work to promote bicycle safety
and use throughout the community. In ad-
dition to the monthly committee meeting,
there may be other events which require ex-
tra volunteer hours. The committee meets on
the fourth Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. at
City Hall. (one vacancy)
• Stormwater Advisory committee – Mem-
bers of this committee review guidelines and
make recommendations to the city council
on the development of ordinances pertaining
to illicit discharge detection and elimination,
stormwater runoff control and stormwater
management. The committee is seeking ap-
plicants who have experience in the develop-
ment or building industry; however it is not a
requirement. Meetings for this committee are
scheduled as needed and are usually held from
11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. (one vacancy)

Countryside
Christian
Church is launching a 31-
week series on Biblical litera-
cy beginning with its services
Sunday, Jan. 4.
Rev. Jon Thompson said he
is hoping to encourage more
people to read the Bible on
a daily basis starting with the
Countryside congregation.
“I want people not only in
my congregation but as well as
the cities of Keizer and Salem,
to realize the incredible love
God has for them and how
their story is found in His sto-
ry,” Thompson said.
A 2008 study by the Pew
Forum on Religion and Pub-
adults.
Thompson is inviting
anyone with an interest in a
greater understanding of the
Bible to join congregants for
their journey through the
Good Book.
