Blakely, is reported on the sick list. Forrest Mack waa at Portland for an over Sunday visit with friends. Mr. and Mrs. B. A. Schaefer entertained Mr. and Mrs. 0. M. Baker of Kingston Sunday. One good second-hand Ford car will be offered at the Deidrich sale during the next ten days. L. Lau returned from a visit with her son Fred at Fox Valley the first of the week. Messrs. V. Dare Sloper and Clarence Beauchamp went to Sa lem Wednesday to attend a meet ing of the Oregon Pharmacists’ Board, which was held in the evening. E. A. Jones of Spokane who has not been in Stayton for 30 years, was here last week for a short time. He used to be a resi dent of our little city but did not see much that looked like it did 30 years ago. A pure food inspector dropped into a store that did not adver tise and asked what it was that smelled so bad around the estab lishment. The proprietor said it was business—that business was rotten.
