Commencement Weil Attended Pox Valley Gems Mrs. Schnnckenbcrg of Hills borough is visiting in the valley. The funeral of Ben N. Rock well was held at the Fox Valley cemetery, Sunday, at 2 o’clock. Services were conducted by Rev. Fich and the order of the Mac- endees of Mill City o f which he was a member. A Memorial program was ren dered at tho cemetery on May 30th and a large crowd attended. A good talk by Mr. Henry Merser was an interesting num ber among some good speeches and songs which were enjoyed by all present. Mr. and Mr<. Ben Berringer were visitors at the Richard Brown home Sunday. Mr. Doxie ol Salem preached in Mr. Van Winkles place at Lyons Sunday morning and even ing this week. All should bring their thimbles as there will be work to do. Seiii H* Surson Passes Away | Seth H. Burson an old resident of Stayton died nt 6:45 a. m. Wednesday morning. He was in apparent goo.! health until about 3 o ’ clock Wednesday morn ing when he suffered a stroke of paralysis which proved fatal a few hours later. He was past 72 years obi anti L aves a wife anti nine children to mourn his loss. IBs children are Mrs. Neal of I,ebanon, Mrs Miller, Seattle Mrs. G. Murphy, Stayton, Mrs. Sandman, Mil! City,. Otto and W. I’, of Stayton, Roy of Alber ta Canada and M. S. o f Mchama. The funeral services will be held at the Methodist church at 2 p. m. Friday, intemii'iit in Lone Oak cemetery. I wish to thank the committee and all the members o f the Stay- ton Red Cross auxiliary for their untiring efforts and their hearty response in making the supper served the Masons last Saturday night such a splendid success. Steeves of Salem and Oscar Ginrich physi cal director of Salem Y. M. C. A. will be the speakers at the Meth odist Episcopal church next Sun day night, on the subject. “ The Y. M. C. A. Work in the Mobil ization Camps.” Both are good si>eakers and should be given a good hearing by the Stayton public. The services begin at 8 o’clock sharp. At ttie Methonist church last Sunday night Judge William Bushey, of Salem, spoke to a large audience regarding his work with the Juvenile court and gave special attention to the neglect of parents in child train ing, the evils of divorce, the necessity o f the citizen doing his own thinking and not de pending too much on the legis lature to do it for him, and other vital matters were dealt with by the judge much to the satisfac tion of the hearers. Accompany ing him to Stayton were County clerk U. G. Boyer, Mildred Brooks the co.inty recorder and Mrs. Bushey.
