In steering his machine out of the way of another dog and not seeing his own he struck him and he died in a very few mo ments. C. S. Clark who has been em ployed on the Mail for the past year, left for Canby,Ore.,Thurs day morning where he has ac cepted a position on the Herald. Mr. Clark and his good wife have made many friends during their sojourn in Stayton who regret seeing him go and all wish them success in their new home. At a meeting of the Stayton Fire Department last Friday evening E. M. Olmsted tendered his resignation as president of the department and was given a . vote of thanks by the members. J. M. Ringo was elected as presi- I dent to succeed Mr. Olmsted.
