On Nov. 29, the 8th grade and teach ers serenaded Ralph Tate at the invita tion o f Mrs. Tate. Afterwards the young people went in and spent an en joyable time, the class presented Ralph with a box o f hometnaJe candy and the hostess served nuts and candy. These visits are helping Ralph to bear his ill ness in a cheerful manner. Miss Poley spent her vacation with friends and relatives in Corvallis, and Miss Hollister spent hers with home folks in Salem. Cecilia Mielke and brother, James, spent the week-end in Salem. Miss Ce cilia remaining to visit the Salem High School Monday. Those receiving 1(X> per cent in the recent spelling contest in the 8th grade were: Edmund Klecker, Ella Spaniol, W ava Brown. The per cent for the whole grade was 85.5, 60 words being missed. Those in the 7th grade receiv ing 100 per cent were; Alma Nendel, Elma Farrar, Loren Lampman, Rosie Allis, Sarah Caldwell, Theresa For- rette, the per cent fer the whole grade being 90.6, with 42 words missed. Those in the 5th and 6th grades re ceiving 100 were; Chas. Flynn, Gene vieve Spaniol, John Hewitt, Harold Richardson, Sylvia Darby, Lyle Lamp- man, M argaiet Hensley, Geo. Mielke. Those receiving the highest grades in Miss Hollister's room were; Alice Klecker, Paul Stayton, Nettie Kerber, Henry Darby. The average attendance the past month in Miss Marshall’s room was; 97.3, in Miss Hollister’s, 97.1 and in Miss Crabtree’s, 98.3. Susie Olmsted has been absent from Miss Hollister’s room part o f the week with a bad cold. The snowstorm Monday caused many absences in Mrs. Pratt’s room. Kingston School Notes The public is cordially invited to at tend the school entertainment which will be rendered at the Kingston school house Friday evening, Dec. i5, at 8 o ’ clock. The teacher and pupils are making active preparations and a good time is assured all. The 6th and 8th grades were a close sec ond to this. Our primary grades are mak ing some o f our Xmas decora tions and miniature Santas for the border design. The sand ta ble is being turned into Santa’s visit on Christmas, and this i s affording no end of pleasure inj the preparation. The entire school is busy learn- [ ing Christmas songs and carols,, and with the snow already here, \ it seems to lend the true spirit! to their work.
