The convention met In Galveston. The executive com m ittee met prior to the meeting of the convention to m ake up the tem porary roll of delegates. The executive com mittee had before It the question of having the three unorgan ized counties represented in th e con vention. The executive com m ittee re fused to recognize them. W hen thle action was taken by the executive com mittee a delegate from Honstou county and tho alleged representatives from Hie three unorganized counties w ith drew from the meeting snd proceeded to organize nnother convention, and upon this Is based the contest, w hich was rejected by both committees, the national com mittee and the credentials committee. Eighth District. In the Eighth congressional conven tion si split occurred over the m njortty and minority reports of the ex Mitive committee as to the tem porary roll. After this convention had been called th e chairm an of the district committee changed his mind and called a meet* lug of the com mittee for April 17. This com mittee called a congressional convention to be held on May 18. B ut there waa no publication of the call, which had to be th irty day» before the convention, until April 21.
