Positively ¿ill /¿ipers sto/'/xfi on expiration o f subscription The following is a copy of a personal letter from a Portland wholesaler to one of our local merchants. It hits the Presiden tial Campaign Bugaboo right in the solar plexus, anci is well worth consideration. Here's what he has to say: Dear Bill:— You sure had some grouch on. and how you got up the nerve to order five rolls when the future looks so blue :<* you beats me. But thanks for that same order, and it goes forward to you to-day. From your letter 1 take it you feel aoout as follows: If Taft’s elected, the Trusts will run the country. If T. R. gets in, the Trusts will bust the country. If the job goes to Clark. Bryan or any of that party, the country’ll go to hell sure. If a “dark horse” comes along. God help us all. For the love of Mike, Bill, its your liver that’s wrong! Take it from me, that three grains of calomel with a Seidlitz powder later will make the future look Wright once more. When election day comes, vote for the man you want. If he's elected you’ll know’ the country's saved; then you’ll have a drink or two and a bit cigar, will buy your wife a new’ dress and send me—well let’s say a couple of hundred on account. Should your man lose, you’ll tighten up: no new dress, no booze and you’ll smoke a pipe and hang on to your mazuma for the worst is yet to come. “ Hully Gee"! Forget it Bill! This is a big country and no one of us can send it to the hot place. When the Creator gets ready to snuff us out. He’ll do it, and it won't be politics that will influence Him either. “What one fears most never happens” , and no matter who is President, the country will go on just the same: we’ll all eat, sleep and be happy. Now. Bill.you've seen enough of elections and the panicky ef fect they have on business to noc take it ao to heart. This hap pens every four years, with the same old “holler’’ and the same result—after the nomination trade will pick up: after election it will be good and keep on getting better, and next year you will wonder why you were scared. In the meantime pay no attention to the bellyachers’ prophecies. Tell ’em "Business is Good” and that you haven't time to talk pol.tics, and with the big crops we’ll harvest this Fall you’ll find later on that 1912 wasn’t such a d bad year after all, and you can fcet tnat 1913 will be lots bettei. So brace up old.man and Boost. B oost , BOOST! Sincerely, M—-— 1 T 1 " TEACH HRS’ EXAMINATION Su b lim ity Sh ots Notice is hereby given that the Coun ty Superintendent of Marion County will hold the regular examination for applicants for State papers at the Sa lem High School as follows: For State Papers.
