STAYTON. MARION COUNTY. OREGON. JULY 17, 1^8.

It ia now an assured fact that the
Oregon Electric will build to Stay ton
in the very near future. Our citixena
have taken up a large per cent of the
♦ 100,000, first mortgage bond« which
pay aix per cent interest semi-annually
with the future consideration that the
Oregon Electric Company through ita
agent A. Welch aggree» to take up any
or all subscript ions paying par value
there-for at any
interest paying

The taking of stock in this enter
prise means the la*«t investment for
the surplus capital of this or any
vicinity. Not only does it mean the
building of an electric line, but the
removal of the greatest hindrance to
Htaytona
growth — transportation.
With the accomplishment of this
of this undertaking this entire terri
tory will rapidly l>e settled up, limber
products, farm produce, stock etc., can
be sold at home to an advantage and
every one will be benefited. It may
seem to some that A. Welch is asking
a subsidy for his road but such ia not
the case for he agrees to take up any
subscription given together with six
per cent interest semi-annually this to
be Bt tbc option of the subscriber.
In addition to giving this section
transportation and railroad facilities
the new electric line bring« the assessed
violation of Marion county into a new
class to the tune of $388.000. Now ia
it not a fact that every citixen who
make« a loan on the electric lint- has
availed* himself of the la?«t industrial
security offered any community. The
work of the s|>eclul commute is being
greatly commended and appreciated
by all and let the last six months of
the year prove the best Htayton and
vicinity have ever known.

MANY
One day of this week our local ang
ler T. J. Hmitli surprised us all hy
coming in with another prize, a six
and one half |smnd Dolly Yarden
being the victim of his craft. The
trout was caught in the Hantiam just
above town and in addition to weigh
ing six and one half pounds, measured
twenty three and one half inches in
length.
Now who can produce a
larger one? The Hantiam and its mt)
tributaries afford the l>e»t angling in
this state for large trout and those
sportsmen who go elsewhere for small
fry .should change thair tactics

Do not depend upon printed de=
scriptions. There are only a cer=
tain number of adjectives in the
language anyway and they are
apt to be used many times when
a fellow is trying to convince of
something on paper at long
range. The result is you do not
know what you are getting after
you are all through reading.
Cut This Out and come here
and see what you buy. It costs
nothing to look, and even if you
buy and are dissatisfied after
wards, return it and get your
money back.
No complaint
