COMMERCIAL CLUB.
The regular meeting of the Club
was held Friday evening, the 2lst.
There was a g o o d attendance and a
spirit of enthusiasm manifested.
The railroad question was discussed,
and the general opinion was that,
»side from the present need of trasjxir-
tation, if Stayton gets her proportion
of the immigration to Oregon, a rail
road is necessary, and it was decided
that the railroad committee be con
tinued, and given power to interview
railroad owners and builders. They
were also instructed to investigate fur
ther us to the iimount of stuck th at
can be secured toward budding a road.
The cannery question was discussevi,
and the com m ittee givun further time
to investigate the cost of thè same.
The committee on luuudry leported
th at a gentleman from Albany had
been here looking over the ground,
and if a suitable building can be se
cured, w ilT locate here. Arrangements
can probably be made to secure this
needed industry.
