p /. Kitchen and wife returned W ed
nesday from a visit of nearly three
weeks in Southern Oregon.
While
away they visited their daughter, Mrs.
Howersox, in Ashland, also visiting
friends in Grants Pass. On their re
turn the.? spent a couple of days at
Hoseburg, and were guests of Mr. and
Mrs. W. W. Elder at the Soldiers
Homo. Dr. Kitchen is loud in his
praises of the excellence of that insti
tution. Ho says there are now 140
old veterans in the Home, and that
Commandant Elder and his wife do
everything in their power to make
their life pleasant. The buildings are
a model of cleanliness, the victuals are
the best, and everything possible is
done for the welfare of the ex-soldiers.
The I>r. and his wife much enjoyed
their vi-.it at the Home and with Mr.
Elder and family.
Lawrence W. Condit died Wednes
day, the lath, at his home near West
Stayton, after a short illness from
pneumonia. He was aged 46 years.
The funeral was held Thursday at the
church near his home and interment
made in the cemetery there. Mr.
Condit was a well known resident of
this section, and had many friends
who will sympathize with the sot row
ing relatives in Qieir loss.
