High Desert Music Hall hosts
rock bands from Montana
BY BEN SALMON
For The Spokesman
It’s been a bit since we checked in with
High Desert Music Hall, the spiffy new
venue bringing an eclectic mix of live music
to the Hub City.
On Nov. 15, a couple of bands on tour
from Montana will stop for a show at
HDMH. One of them is Hibernator, a cam-
era-shy four-piece whose sound is a hulking
(but catchy!) blend of alt-rock, emo, post-
rock and not-quite-metal. Joining them will
be Anaconda Vise from Bozeman, Mont.,
who play buzzy, ambitious punk rock and
write songs about pro wrestling.
Both of these bands can be found on
Bandcamp and are best played loud through
headphones to help you drown out the
world.
Hibernator and Anaconda Vise, with

TRUCK OF THE WEEK
BY NICOLE ROGERS
For The Spokesman
Name of Truck: Sally’s Wok
Name of Owner: Sally Liu
Location: General Duffy’s, 404 SW Forest Ave
Hours: Friday-Tuesday, 11:30 am to 8 pm.
Date Opened: June 2018
About the Cart: Sally’s Wok is an Asian fusion food cart.
Liu was born in Inner Mongolia, a region of China. She
says that she serves the kinds of foods that people like to
cook at home. Liu said she tries to get a lot of veggies into
her food and all of the recipes are her own. The food is
fresh and much of the menu options are healthy.
Your first order should be: Liu says that her fried rice
or noodles are the best. She usually will ask customers if
they are a noodle person or a rice person. Liu says that a
customer can go with stir-fried rice or stir-fried noodles
depending on their style, but in winter she brings out her
soups which are customer favorites.
Fun fact: Liu is originally from Inner Mongolia. She
moved to the U.S. in 2000. In 2001 while working at a
Nicole Rogers/Spokesman
Chinese restaurant she met a couple who took her in and
helped her. Liu says that she has a deep gratitude towards Sally’s Wok
Americans, and says that here in the U.S. she has learned
about love and her attitude has changed towards humans.
“At certain point in your life you have hard time and people help you,” she said. The cart has also helped change her at-
titude. Liu says she puts her heart into it — and says that it is fun for her.
