Say hello to Buzz! This good looking, two-year- old cattle dog was transferred to us from an overcrowded shelter and now we are working hard to find him his new, forever home. As Buzz is a recent transfer and is new to the area, and shelter, we have limited information on this loving pup. We will work on making up- dates as Buzz spends time here at BrightSide. Our staff and potential adopters describe his personality as affec- tionate, determined, and at times very silly. Buzz is an energetic pup who loves to stay active and has been noted to constantly seek a job or task. Needing a lot of stim- ulation and enrichment, Buzz will need active adopters who will give his the constant exercise he needs. Our staff, in the short time we’ve known Buzz, can tell he is a big people person and loves to be around humans, however does not do well with children. Buzz is looking for active and childless adopters to live out the rest of his happy dog life with. mond; drycanyonarts.org. COCC hosts BIPOC events in Redmond By SPOKESMAN STAFF Christy Walker, director of diversity and inclusion at Central Oregon Com- munity College, views connection as the first step to empowering the Black, Indig- enous and People of Color communities. “It’s not for us to use our voices to speak for them. It’s to try to make space so that they can speak for themselves,” she said. In October, COCC will honor Latinx Heritage Month, Indigenous Peoples’ Day and National Coming Out Day with a series of events designed to raise aware- ness and elevate connection. All events are free and open to the public, but some require advance registration. Some of the events will take place in Redmond. Traditionally, Latinx Heritage Month takes place from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, but COCC celebrates during the month of October to accommodate the fall term. In honor of Latinx Heritage Month, COCC will host the following events.
