For The Spokesman
FRIDAY
97/56
A five-star zydeco show is set for
Wednesday at High Desert Music
Hall in Redmond.
That’s where C.J. Chenier — son
of Clifton “The King of Zydeco”
Chenier and one of the world’s great
zydeco artists in his own right —
and his Red Hot Louisiana Band
will deliver a set of authentic and
turbo-charged zydeco blues jams
that should transport any atten-
tive listener to the birthplace of the
style, rural southwest Louisiana.
Zydeco music is party music, in-
corporating big chunks of blues,
rock ‘n’ roll, Afro-Caribbean, Ca-
juna and Creole music into its rol-
licking sound, and the centerpiece
of that sound is the accordion. C.J.

TRUCK OF THE WEEK
Name of truck: Westside Taco Co.
Location: 245 SW 6th St #2108
Hours: 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday
through Thursday; 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Friday and Saturday. Closed Monday.
Owner: Amber Amos and Aaron No-
tarianni
Opened: July 2017
Type of food: Tacos
About the cart: Westside Taco Co. is wedged between Kobold Brewing
and Sholom Coffee on SW 6th St. in downtown Redmond and shares the
outdoor space with Feast Food Co. The venue features outdoor seating with
shade where patrons can enjoy cold beer from the Kobold tasting room as
they chow down on unique handmade tacos, with recipes like the Austin
BBQ chicken with southern slaw and house taqueria sauce or the Thai curry
chicken with green Thai curry and pickled onions.
Your first order should be: Either the root beer carnitas or the blueberry
chipotle brisket. The pineapple salsa of the root beer carnitas melds with ci-
lantro, pickled onions and cotija. The blueberry chipotle brisket, meanwhile,
uses its spicy salsa to create a pop, a sizzle and a flash of flavor.
Fun fact: Westside Taco Co. first began in Southern California and, after find-
ing success, Amos and Notarianni moved to Central Oregon for access to na-
ture. According to Notarianni, it was the first food truck in Redmond in 2017.
