The Sisters School Board Monday night decided to take a $598,000 bond issue for construction of new high school facilities to the voters on Oct. 3. Still awaiting an independent anal- ysis of the company’s compliance with service requirements, the city has asked for a second audit to assess Redmond franchise fee rates. Redmond cable rates are the highest in Central Oregon. In addition, the city council on Sept. 23 will consider an ordinance to strengthen the city’s “weak franchise agreement with Falcon,” interim city manager Vergie Ries said in a letter to Ruby Sutherland, Falcon’s Redmond operations manager. On the same day, the city council will discuss a request from Falcon to trans- fer the local cable franchise to an affili- ated partnership based in Delaware. Mayor Jerry Thackery has re- quested that a “representative with de- cision-making authority” attend the Sept. 23 meeting. Counselors expect to see the results of the technical audit on franchise compliance prior to the meeting. “We’ll just see if they want to be a partner or not,” said City Councilor Mike Newell. The weather turned quite cold during the latter part of the evening, which caused the sale to slow down to a considerable extent; otherwise the affair would have proven a big success financially, but as it was, the ladies netted a neat sum. 75 Years Ago Aug. 28, 1947 — Dancers to hear Hollywood band Fair-going dancers will be given a treat when they dance to the music of Georgie Kaye and his orchestra from Hollywood.
